May mayhem

So far the month of May has been mostly mayhem, and only a little bit May. Let's just say it all began when a dorky, blonde girl decided to move to the big city of men called Menver. On her first day living there she met three men and got asked out by a guy from Craigslist who gave her a bed frame. Then she was in a fashion show for Express clothing and five people from her high school were there. After the runway appearance our heroine went to meet a friend at a bar and some how ended up getting free admittance into a swingers club. (Why she is writing all of this in third person and actually talking about it she doesn't know.) At the club she had a dance party with three of her friends for three hours straight. She went home at 4 in the morning. A few days later she was walking down the street from her new apartment and ran into an old neighbor. This neighbor just happened to live a few blocks away from her and they became accidental neighbors again - twice within 15 years.

After exploring her new neighborhood she realized she lives two blocks from a friend of hers and within three blocks of a vegan cupcake bakery, yoga studio, and gelato shop. By pure coincidence the neighborhood was able to provide everything she ever wanted, and more from a street.

Then a boy called, the one from a few nights ago and they have spent the past three days together non-stop, and she likes him. And she doesn't usually like to spend this much time with other people and likes more time alone, but she likes him (and already said that) and thinks he's one of the cutest boys she has ever met.
All this and she has only lived in Denver for two weeks.
Today she's grateful for a clean closet, sweet basil plant, and gelato.

Where there's a Goodwill, there's a way

Goodwill has most recently provided everything I needed for a smooth transition to Denver. My old apartment (before the basement) was quite a bit larger than shall we say the closet I currently live in. (Although I'd give space anyday for my great location.) I desperately needed some plates for my new place, check. Shoe rack, check. closet organizer, check.
I thought my recent interest in thrift stores might have to do with my recent decline in income. However, I'm quickly falling in love. What a wonderful concept to reuse things and have the proceeds go to worthy causes. It's shopping with a purpose, and something I can definitely get into. I find it so fun that the unrecognizable smells don't even affect me anymore (or at least not after the first hour).

Going secondhand first makes a difference. My new apt. is more than apt and I have Goodwill to thank.
Today I'm grateful for yummy cupcakes, gift cards, Express.

"Bee"ing happy with time

One of my favorite quotes is 'It's not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy. The bee is praised; the mosquito is swatted." by Marie O'Conner. Time is indeed precious and being busy isn't call it's cracked up to be.

Time is a non-renewable resource and how we use it is well to be blunt - everything. It defines how we live our life, minute, by precious minute. Since taking on following my dreams this has become more and more evident. I have had my feelings hurt on many occassions by people "bee"ing too busy or overwhelmed to spend time with me. I completely remember the days I didn't get to eat a single meal or was so stressed I couldn't sit still, let alone make time for a friend. My heart goes out to lives spent on things I didn't enjoy or did just because I thought I had to. I just can't relate to that way of living anymore and I do think it has impacted several of my relationships.

Living a life of inspiration has changed that for me. Now I want nothing more than my time to be spent with people I love, staring at clouds, meditating, working out, and spending time each day creating work I love. Allowing my days to unfold without the illusion of scarcity of money or time..

Beeing free of time and busyness has certainly made life sweet, like honey, and without the sting. =)
Today I'm grateful for Garden of the Gods, almond butter cake, and Jennifer.
